Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association Elects Officers and Bestows Distinguished Awards

Troy Poetz
Troy Poetz, of Rajkowski Hansmeier, Ltd., St. Cloud, is the association’s new President. Poetz succeeds Richard C. Scattergood, of Stich Angell Kreidler Unke & Scattergood P.A. Jessica E. Schwie, of Jardine Logan & O'Brien, PLLP, Lake Elmo, was elected as Vice-President; Steven M. Sitek, of Bassford Remele, Minneapolis, was elected as Treasurer; and Ben McAninch, Blethen Gage & Krause PLLP, Mankato, was elected as Secretary.
 
Elected for a two-year term on the MDLA Board of Directors were:

Jana Sullivan, League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust, St. Paul
Jack Hennen, Provo-Petersen & Associates, P.A., Lake Elmo
Brendon Tupa, Law Offices of Thomas P. Stilp, Golden Valley
Tammy Reno, Stich Angell Kreidler Unke & Scattergood, Minneapolis

Re-elected for a second two-year term on the MDLA Board of Directors were:

Jason Hill, Jardine, Logan & O'Brien, PLLP, Lake Elmo
Andrea Reisbord, Bassford Remele, Minneapolis

They will join current directors; Jason Hill, Jardine Logan & O'Brien, PLLP, Lake Elmo; Andrea Reisbord, Bassford Remele P.A., Minneapolis; Ben McAninch, Blethen Gage & Krause PLLP, Mankato.

Matthew Thibodeau
A number of honors and awards were bestowed at the annual meeting — including the 8th Annual Deb Oberlander New Lawyer Award, given to Bryan Browning, Bassford Remele PA, Minneapolis. This award was created in memory of MDLA’s former executive director, who passed away in 2008, to recognize the professionalism, service, and contribution to excellence in the practice of law by a new lawyer. Matthew Thibodeau, Thibodeau Johnson & Feriancek, Duluth, received the 2016 MDLA President’s Award in appreciation for his excellent work on behalf of MDLA.
Rich Scattergood
Richard C. Scattergood, of Stich Angell Kreidler Unke & Scattergood P.A., received an Exceptional Performance Award from DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar, Chicago.
