MDLA Service Project
Hats & Mittens is a non-profit that has been collecting and distributing thousands of warm hats and mittens to children and youth in the Twin Cities metro area for the last 25 years. They also invest in other community organizations that serve children
and youth, providing "venture capital" funding for those organizations to grow and carry out their missions.
MDLA is partnering with Hats & Mittens to collect new or gently used hats, mittens, scarves, and waterproof mittens/gloves of all sizes (including homemade knitted and crocheted items) at the upcoming Mid-Winter Conference. We encourage firms to collect
these items over the next several weeks and send them with attendees. For those unable to attend but still want to donate, please reach out to Elena Harvey with the Pro Bono Committee, eharvey@foleymansfield.com,
to coordinate collection.

MDLA Mid-Winter Conference Policies
MDLA Duty of Care
MDLA is following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local authorities regarding in-person gatherings. We are committed to taking the appropriate precautions to provide a safe and healthy environment for attendees. MDLA encourages
all conference attendees to follow CDC and local public health guidance regarding masking, social distancing, sanitizing, and other measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
MDLA staff will execute the following best practices to help attendees stay healthy and to reduce exposure and risk:
- Provide sanitizing and disinfection materials for general attendee use.
- Supply masks for attendees needing them.
- Work with the hotel to increase cleaning and disinfection across high-volume common areas.
- Monitor recommendations from the relevant health authorities including the Centers for Disease Control and local government and city officials.
- Encourage attendees to adopt some best practices to act in their own best interest and in the best interest of their fellow attendees.
Attendees are asked to manage their own preparedness and behavior as well:
- If you are feeling feverish or coughing prior to arriving at the conference, please stay home.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing you nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Maintain social distancing.
- Disinfect personal items such as cell phones.
You may also want to:
- Consider the adoption of a no-handshake policy.
- Be considerate of fellow attendees and exercise good judgement.
- Consider getting yourself tested for COVID-19 both before and after attending the conference.
- And most of all, if you are feverish or coughing, please do not attend the conference or please notify MDLA staff if you begin to experience these symptoms while at the conference.
